Dead Space 2 Preview
10/01/2010 00:29E3 has come and gone, and after all of the new game trailers and playthroughs have finished, there's one game that stood out. Dead Space 2 is one my most anticipated games of 2011. If the first game is any indication of the quality of the second (Dead Space won my 2008 GOTY), than it will be an early 2011 GOTY contender. It seems as though Dead Space 2's setting will orbit everyone's favorite planet: Saturn. A giant space station known as "The Sprawl" is where Isaac is headed 3 years after the horrific events on the Ishimura. How or why the Necromorphs show up there is unknown. However, we did find out that Isaac is still heavily scarred by the trauma. We're not just talking post traumatic distress syndrome though. The Marker really screwed with his mind, and his mental state is questionable at best. It also looks as though he's equipped with a new suit. I'm not too sure how I felt about it. He came across as too much of a badass. Despite his experience, I really hope Isaac Clarke doesn't become Iron Man in Dead Space 2. It turns out that he'll actually speak, and because of his past run-ins with the aliens, he'll be in charge. This will be an interesting dynamic compared to the errand boy that Isaac was back on the Ishimura. As far as the actual game goes, it looked far more than promising. New enemies, weapons, and some really breathtaking set-pieces showed off how intense this game should be. As we roll closer and closer to the new year, my radar is set and ready for my number most anticipated game yet: Dead Space 2.
